Shrewsbury Town release midfielder Antoni Sarcevic

Paul Hurst's revamp of Shrewsbury Town's squad has begun with the release of midfielder Antoni Sarcevic.

The 24-year-old's exit from Greenhous Meadow by mutual consent, just six months into a two-year deal, was confirmed on Friday night.

A brief statement on the club's website read: "Shrewsbury Town can confirm that midfielder Antoni Sarcevic left the club after it was mutually agreed that his contract would be cancelled."

Boss Hurst has made no secret of his desire to make changes and bring in reinforcements during next month's window as Town battle against relegation from League One.

Sarcevic, who joined Town after leaving Fleetwood last summer, has been deemed surplus to requirements, after making just two appearances since Hurst replaced Micky Mellon in the Salop hotseat.
