Shrewsbury Town produced a sterling backs-to-the-wall display to notch an important victory at Dagenham.

Town got off to the perfect start when they took a sixth minute lead through Terry Gornell after a mix-up from the hosts.

But Shrewsbury were forced to do it the hard way when loan debutant James Wallace was dismissed on 25 minutes, harshly shown a straight red card for a tackle on Jon Nurse.

Town, however, held firm and restricted Dagenham to next to no chances before sealing the triumph in the final minute of injury time.

Substitute James Collins was brought down by Tony Doe - who received his second yellow card and therefore a red - and then got to his feet to slot home the spot kick.
