Peters was playing his cards close to his chest but admitted he would be forced to "assess all our options" ahead of Saturday's League Two opener at Lincoln.
Shrewsbury's 1-0 victory at Port Vale saw just 13 fit outfield senior players on the Town books, a number which is unlikely to rise ahead of the weekend unless Peters' seeks reinforcements.
The left-back position will be the main area of concern for the Town management - with Marc Tierney suspended for the trip to Sincil Bank, as well as being on the treatment table, and Neil Ashton facing six weeks on the sidelines with a broken arm.
Former Birmingham City youngster Darren Campion came in as a late trialist on Saturday and could provide a short-term option.
Peters may also look to bolster his attack should Derek Asamoah's transfer to Nice be formally completed in the next 48 hours.
Town officials were today continuing their veil of secrecy over the on-going saga with the Ghanaian forward, although it is understood the deal will be completed should there be no problems with the agreement of a fee and the transfer of money to Shrewsbury.
"With the injuries we have got a problem and we have got to assess all our options," said Peters.
"I'm not going to bring people in for the sake of it - they have to be capable of getting in our team.
"The left-back situation is one we have to be aware of because Marc Tierney and Neil Ashton are both out (of the Lincoln game).
"People could say it is a one-game problem but Marc is still not training with us so you can't be sure he will be fit for the Colchester game (in the Carling Cup next Tuesday) because that's the next one he has to play in.
"We have got a situation and we have to deal with that and try and find a way around it."
Striker Dave Hibbert has reported no ill-effects to his 45-minute run-out at Vale Park on Saturday after an injury lay-off, where he scored the winner, and is in contention for a starting role against Lincoln.
