Dan Stevens assembles new Market Drayton staff

Whenever next season begins, Market Drayton Town manager Dan Stevens plans being ready with an impressive new backroom team.

He has signed up Steve Chamberlain of Stoke City’s academy as assistant manager, Callum Williams of Shrewsbury Town’s academy as coach and Dave Bennett – another involved at Montgomery Waters Meadow – as goalkeeping coach.

Specialist analyst Cameron Hignett also joins the club to provide statistical and visual breakdowns of training and team performances – work he did for Stafford Rangers last season.

Stevens is delighted with the strength and depth of his behind the scenes squad.

“Steve has considerable experience working with junior and youth players in a big-club set-up and joins us to further his career coaching an older age group at the level of the Northern Premier League,” he said. “Callum’s an old mate. He majors on hard work and attention to detail. We worked together at St Martins and I wanted to bring him to Drayton when I became manager but he was committed until the end of the season – and you’ve got to respect that.

“Dave will not be with us every game – he runs his own business as a goalkeeping coach so is often in demand on Saturdays. But the opportunity to get him on board was too good to miss and he’s committed to his role with us.”

Boosting Town’s media presence and attracting bigger audiences has also been a priority for the Town boss. And having spent a season at Stafford Rangers, Hignett is seen as the ideal candidate – as well as providing analysis for the team.
