Aston Villa's £1m former West Brom teenager serenaded by fans ahead of Europa League final

The Villa youngster played a key role in their Europa League journey

You can count Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba’s Aston Villa appearances on one hand - but the young star has had a huge say in their Europa League journey.

Signed from West Brom for £1m as a 16-year-old - the attacking midfielder was handed his Premier League debut in December - before going on to spend the second half of the season on loan with the Baggies.

However, before he made the switch, the teenager announced himself on the scene with a memorable goal in the Europa League.

In January, the teen came off the bench to score a stunning goal in Villa’s 3-2 victory over Red Bull Salzburg, a result that secured them a second placed finish in the league phase.

While Villa were going on to plot their route to the final - the attacking midfielder was heading out to the Championship.

But many Villa fans credit Jimoh-Aloba, who has only played five times for the club, with having a massive say in the European journey.

And while he may not be part of Unai Emery’s squad in Turkey for the final in Istanbul on Wednesday night - he is certainly being celebrated by the Villa fans.

Footage of the youngster being held aloft by Villa fans ahead of the final has emerged online. Villa fans surrounded the youngster, chanting ‘Jimoh-Aloba, he’s one of our own’.
