Aston Villa close on double loan swoop after deal for three-time Champions League winner agreed
Villa have agreed a deal to sign forward Marco Asensio on loan from Paris St Germain as their busy finish to the transfer window continues.
Asensio is poised to become another big name addition to Unai Emery’s squad, with Villa also looking to complete a loan move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford on Sunday.

Emery has been a long-time admirer of Asensio, a three-time winner of the Champions League with Real Madrid, who has struggled for form and fitness since moving to Paris 18 months ago. It is believed Villa will cover the 29-year-old’s salary in full as part of the deal.
News of the Asensio signing has emerged at the same time the club are looking to close out a deal for Rashford.
The England international, frozen out at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, will also join on loan until the end of the season, with Villa having the option to make the move permanent in the summer. They are expected to cover a significant portion of the 27-year-old’s £325,000-a-week salary.
Emery has been eager to strengthen his attacking options after allowing Emi Buendia to leave for Bayer Leverkusen on loan and selling Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr, in a deal which could eventually be worth more than £70million.
Villa, beaten 2-0 at Wolves on Saturday, are also expected to recruit a defender before Monday evening’s deadline.
