Andy Johnson 'excited' to see Carlos Corberan’s West Brom plans unfold
Andy Johnson reckons Carlos Corberan can make good use of this summer’s transfer window regardless of Albion’s budget.

The former Hawthorns and Wales midfielder is excited to see what the head coach can do after making changes to the squad and with a full pre-season under his belt.
Corberan took the Baggies from the relegation zone, and bottom spot after his first game in charge, to play-off contention.
The head coach is limited in his spending this summer due to no investment from controlling shareholder Guochuan Lai, but club radio commentator Johnson believes the summer can be key.
Johnson said: “Forget about what went on before Carlos, he’s the manager and when he took over we were bottom of the league after 18 games.
“You have to say he’s been very, very successful, to take us to the verge of the play-offs, that’s success, for me.
“It fills me with a lot of optimism for next season. If the gaffer’s got a summer transfer window – irrespective of what budget he’s got – he’s got a window, a pre-season to work with players and new ones.
“It’s quite exciting, if he can achieve what he did in the short time he’s been here, what could he achieve over a full season with the big summer window? I’m saying he’s going to sign five or six players, you’ve got to trust with what you’ve seen to now and that can only be positive, you can only commend him.
“It’s been remarkable, it’s no joke, when we were bottom a lot of fans – including myself – were thinking ‘no, surely we can’t be relegated?’ I think we all did. The table doesn’t lie after 18 games, we were where we were for a reason.”
Johnson added: “Carlos picked up the very same group of players and performed miracles, that’s probably the only way to describe it. His enthusiasm and passion for football and our club have been terrific. He doesn’t sit still on the touchline. I know through speaking to players there now they have the utmost respect for the bloke, and they all enjoy working with him, his communication is second-to-none, things I’ve not heard of and I’ve been in the game all of my life. He’s doing things managers in our era never heard of. It’s quite refreshing.
“He’s got his own style and it’s very effective, the proof’s in the pudding.”
