Rob Edwards disappointed at AFC Telford capitulation

AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards insists his side 'lacked any competitive edge' as a second half capitulation saw them get beat 5-1 at home by Harrogate Town.

Telford have now lost all five National League North games at the New Bucks Head this season.

They took the lead through Anthony Dwyer but Jake Wright levelled for the visitors before half-time, and Terry Kennedy, George Thomson (two) and Jack Emmett struck in the second period.

The Bucks also had defender Connor Johnson, who is on loan from Wolves, sent off late on after picking up two yellow cards.

An angry Edwards said: "Obviously I am pretty emotional but I'll try to give a calm overview of what I saw.

"I saw a team in the first half that looked organised and a bigger threat than what Harrogate did.

"We got the first goal and then conceded a poor one. At half-time, the message was good - we were in the game, organised - and we were pleased.

"We needed to step it up again but in the second half we didn't win enough second balls, we didn't stop enough crosses and didn't deal with anything that came into the box."

Telford have another game at home on Tuesday as they take on Stockport County (kick-off 7.45pm).

Reflecting further on today's showing, Edwards added: "I have got to go away and look at it and assess it properly.

"I saw a team that lacked any competitive edge and saw one team in Harrogate that looked like they were playing on the front foot more than we were.

"They were playing in the right areas, got their better players on the ball and caused us too many problems and we couldn't deal with it.

"Then we went down to 10 men and it compounded the problem."
