"We haven't disgraced ourselves" - Kevin Wilkin dismisses tiredness claims as AFC Telford United hit end of season slump
Despite suffering a defeat that all but ended his side’s hopes of promotion Telford boss Kevin Wilkin insisted he was proud of the team’s performance in difficult circumstances.
The Bucks were forced to play 40 minutes with 10 men after Jamie Meddows’ red card, while a number of other refereeing decisions left those of a Telford persuasion frustrated.

Wilkin dismissed suggestions that his side have run out of steam at the business end of the season, and instead focused on the positive mentality his players have shown for much of the season.

“I don’t think a difference in the fitness of the sides was particularly evident in dividing the teams, there were a lot of other factors at play,” Wilkin said. “I don’t think the officials on Monday were great and with ten men we still gave a pretty good account of ourselves and kept trying to push forward and take something from the game.
“A full-time side is always going to provide a challenge, and then we’ve made a glaring error for (Kidderminster’s) second goal which is unfortunate.
“It shows how quickly things can change in football. You had Jordan as the hero one week when he scored the equaliser (against Bedford Town) and then he’s had a bit of a moment where he’ll be disappointed.
“These things happen and overall he’s had a really good season, but it’s unfortunate and we have to move on.
“The feeling is clearly one of disappointment, because we really felt we could take something from the game.
“Playing these full-time teams is really tough every time, but we look forward to games like that. I want to pit our wits against the best that there are and full-time teams and see how we can come out of it. It wasn't to be, but we haven't disgraced ourselves by any stretch.”
