Marcus Dinanga sticking to 30-goal target for AFC Telford

AFC Telford United striker Marcus Dinanga insists he is still aiming to have 30 goals to his name by the end of the campaign.

The 20-year-old set himself the lofty target shortly after his arrival from Championship side Burton Albion on a season-long loan.

He is their top goalscorer so far this term, with 13 in all competitions, and believes he will 'really kick on' soon.

"It's still the aim, to get 30 goals. I still think it's possible to get that, it's my target," said Dinanga.

"I started the season a bit shaky but I think that I have found my feet.

"I know what the league is all about now, how teams set up and what to expect.

"I feel like I can really kick on during the second half of the season and keep scoring goals."

Dinanga forged a strong partnership with Anthony Dwyer earlier in the season but his position has changed slightly since the arrival of former Wolves and Shrewsbury striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Ebanks-Blake has been leading the line for Rob Edwards' side, with Dwyer dropped to the bench and Dinanga shifted to right wing.

Telford have not been free-scoring as of late – Dinanga's penalty at Brackley being their only goal in the last four games – but the Burton loanee says he is enjoying playing alongside the ex-Molineux hotshot.

"I think it has been good. Sylvan is more of a hold-up player and I work around him," said Dinanga.

"I've been learning a lot from him, watching him in training and picking up different things.

"And I'm willing to play wherever the manager feels best, and give my all for the team."

Dinanga netted 34 times in a loan spell at Matlock Town in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier – a division below the Bucks – last campaign.

He hopes his progress at the New Bucks Head will impress Burton staff enough to earn a new deal, as his current contract expires in the summer.

Next up for Dinanga and his Telford team-mates is a trip to top-of-the-table Salford City on Saturday.

On that game, he added: "It's going to be a tough game as they're top of the league.

"I'm not sure what formation the manager is going to go with, he's been trying some different things in training, but hopefully we can come away from there with something."
