The Bucks manager has already brought in seven new faces since his second tenure with the club began in late August.

The latest was their own 'Wayne Rooney' in loanee striker Connor McCarthy from National side Southport and Worcester City forward Ryan Rowe.

Asked if any more signings were likely to come in, manager Smith said: "Yes, I would think so.

"We are close to doing something with a pretty exciting player and that's all I'm prepared to say. We have got to still get players out of this football club."

Most of Smith's signings have been defenders with two of his previous players, Curtis Tilt and Paul McCone, joining from Hednesford Town.

Lucas Dawson has arrived from Nuneaton while Graham Hutchison has been loaned from Halifax. Left-back Darren Campion has also joined from Worcester City, along with attacking team-mate Rowe.

Despite the influx of new names, the contract of promising on-loan Walsall striker Amadou Bakayoko has ran out. Bakayoko made six appearances for the Bucks.

Asked if he would renew the striker's contract, Smith said: "No, I will be honest I haven't really seen enough from him.

"He has obviously got something because he is very highly rated but it hasn't happened for him here with Connor coming in and Ryan Rowe.

"We won't be pursuing that one, but that is not to say I won't be looking for another one because I probably will. I will be on the look-out to get more players in eventually.

"There might be 11 of my players in there. I don't care what happens as long as we start getting results."
