AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton today unveiled experienced striker Craig Farrell as his fourth summer signing.

The 6ft hitman is set to pen a one-year deal with the Bucks, with an option for another year, having left crisis club Rushden & Diamonds.

Farrell, 28, formally played for Carlisle United, Exeter City, York and Oxford before joining Rushden – who were thrown out of the Conference earlier this month – in June 2009.

"We're delighted because Craig was well up on our hit list," said Sinton.

"He has vast experience. He's not a 25 or 30 goals a season man but he will chip in with 12 or 15 and he's a very good foil.

"He's a very clever footballer, he's creative and he's mobile. He'll complement the firepower we've got."

Sinton revealed that Farrell had turned down three better financial offers to join the Bucks – including two from rivals in the Conference Premier.

The Middlesbrough-born forward, a close friend of Telford skipper Shane Killock, verbally agreed to the move more than a week ago and should complete the paperwork at training tomorrow after returning from a holiday in Turkey.

"Shane's done a good PR job for us," added the Bucks boss.

"Craig had a frustrating time last season because he got injured early on and then couldn't get back in.

"But he's coming into the prime of his career and he's got a lot of football in him."

Meanwhile, Sinton is aiming to complete further deals in the week ahead – with talks under way with one experienced defender and one young centre-back.
