Exclusive: Shrewsbury Town conduct first business of the summer
Shrewsbury Town have chosen to activate the extension clause in Taylor Perry’s contract, the Shropshire Star understands.

The former Wolves man signed a two-year deal with Salop back in 2023 with an option in the contract for a further year should Town wish to activate it - which they now have done - meaning he will be in Michael Appleton's squad for their League Two campaign.
The 23-year-old has made 76 League One appearances since his arrival scoring his first goal in the 2-1 defeat at Elland Road against Leeds in the Carabao Cup in just his second appearance.
Perry’s first league goal was a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Cambridge United in mid-October 2023.
He was liked by former boss Matt Taylor, but after he was sacked, Paul Hurst returned to the club, and Perry fell down the pecking order.
At the beginning of this season opportunities for the youngster were hard to come by, but he came back into favour when Gareth Ainsworth was appointed as boss, and he scored in back-to-back games against Rotherham and Reading earlier this year.
Michael Appleton signed a two-year contract in Shropshire last week, and he had gone on the record to say he was pleased with the contributions the midfielder had made since his arrival - so it comes as no surprise he is going to stay in Shropshire for another year.
Meanwhile, Shrewsbury Town’s under-17s are set to compete in the Professional Development League Trophy final at the Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday with the clash kicking off at 6.30 against the Bluebirds.
Salop have been impressive throughout the competition with wins over Birmingham and Walsall in the group stages. They then went on to beat Ipswich in the round of 16. Swindon in the quarter-finals, before Jeval Thompson-McKenzie gave them a 1-0 win at Burnley in the semi-finals.
