Dave Edwards: There are two standout candidates for the Wolves captaincy
The captain’s armband is up for grabs at Molineux this season, and I think there are a couple of good candidates for the role.

The Nelson Semedo situation is rumbling on, and I am sure a lot of fans will be losing their mind with this a little bit, but while Wolves have not committed to bringing in another right-back, and while he still has not got a club, they will still have some hope.
The only issue with the longer it goes on is that he will not want Wolves to feel like an afterthought.
Recent years have shown how important it is to get the right person for the job. We saw Mario Lemina struggle with the responsibility of it during his time at the club.
He was the obvious choice at the start of last season, but captaincy is not for everyone. Semedo came in and did a wonderful job of reuniting the whole playing group.
He calmed the whole place down, along with the manager Vitor Pereira. I do think the two standout contenders are Emmanuel Agbadou and Joao Gomes.
Agbadou had such an impressive start at the football club. He dominated at the heart of the defence. When you are there, you can see the whole pitch, a bit like Conor Coady did during his spell at the club. It is a good place for a skipper to be on the field.
So I think the Ivorian will be right at the front running for the position. We did see Toti Gomes pick up the armband a little towards the end of last season, so maybe he is an outsider as well.
But the other obvious candidate is Joao Gomes. That is purely on his passion and his commitment to the club, which cannot be questioned at all. He has signed a new contract, and you know he is going to be around for a long time.
The ferocity with which he plays, and the endearment he has from the fans does tick a lot of boxes for a captain.
His age might be a barrier for him, he is quite young and still has a lot to learn, yet I think either of those two would be good for the role.
The captain could come from outside the group. There could be a new signing coming in that could take the armband, but I always feel that could be a huge gamble.
I have seen it happen a few times in my career, most notably when Roger Johnson came to Wolves and took the captaincy off Karl Henry. He was a big signing, and it really did upset the group.
Until you work with a player, you don’t always know what their character is going to be like and how they are going to fit in with the group.
It's a huge football club, and I think anyone who does it has to be really devoted to the role. I think we have seen that in the past. When I reflect on those captains that I have played under, the likes of Henry and Danny Batth, they were exactly that - they took the position so seriously.
In recent times, it has been the same with Coady and Ruben Neves - they epitomised everything.
I was delighted to see Wes Okoduwa and Mateus Mane sign their first contracts. There would have been some big Premier League clubs interested in Mane, so for Wolves to tie him down is a coup. I think he will be heavily involved in this pre-season, and he is going to be in and around the squad.
I hope he is the one who breaks out and gets into the team. There are opportunities at the top end of the pitch, whether it is from the start or off the bench.
