Dan Williams and Derbyshire star Conor Chamberlain were too good for the rest as they took the honours in the £900 Candlin Memorial Doubles on Sunday.

They split the £300 first prize after beating Shropshire senior team stars Scott Harries and Dan Taylor (Sir John Bayley) in the final.

“Thank you all who entered and sorry about the cold and the rain,” said promoter Stuart Church after a full house of 32 took part in the one-dayer.

Chamberlain won all seven of his Mid Shropshire games last year as Sinclair made the Premier League play-offs, losing to to Woore, who went on to beat Horsehay in the final to join the elite 14 clubs.

Potteries Panel

Three Shropshire Premier League bowlers will tonight take aim at the £1,200 first prize that goes to the champion of the 2026 Potteries Panel.

County No.1 Callum Wraight came through Tuesday evening’s play-offs at Knypersley to join Sir John Bayley pair Reece Far and Joe Dicken in the finals night action on the artificial green at Biddulph.

Dicken, already £200 richer for topping his qualifying group, faces Martin Wrench for starters as the last eight go into battle while Farr takes on George Podmore and Wraight tackles Aaron Jones.

Past Panel champion Wraight, who had a poor start to the current campaign, beat Jazz Hamer 26-22 and Darren Clutton 21-15 in his 25 end games at Knypersley to make the finals, but Sinclair pair Dan Williams and Jordan Millman both lost their first ties.

Free Press Cup

The first ever Shropshire winners of the 119-year-old Free Press Cup, Castlefields can rest easy before their start their defence of the historic Midland bowls title.

The Shrewsbury giants have a first round bye in this year’s five home-five away knockout along with Premier League rivals Highley.

But the county clubs with ties to complete by May 31 are Wem USC (v Stretton Anglesey), Wrockwardine Wood (v The George) and Sir John Bayley (v M & B Cheslyn Hay).

The semi-final and final will be 10-a-side ties on a neutral green on Sunday, September 20, when Fields will look to retain a cup they won by beating King George V in the 2025 final at Littleover BC in Derbyshire.
