Double delight for Duncan on the bowls greens
The latest action from across the county’s bowling greens.
It was a winning weekend for Shifnal bowler Emma Duncan with a double reason to celebrate.

First there was success in the County Mixed Doubles with partner and clubmate Nathan Lacey at Allscott Heath.
They beat Shrewsbury’s Christie Hughes and Chris Jones in the final as eight pairs played the Shropshire Ladies competition on the club’s grass green.
And next day Duncan made a stunning winning debut for Shropshire in the British Ladies County Championship, scoring a 21-5 victory in the home leg at Sinclair as the Salopians marched on to another final appearance.
Molson Coors Mid Shropshire League
A late season surge in top class action starts tomorrow at Shifnal Bowling Club.
A field of at least 16 pairs is expected at the Molson Coors Mid Shropshire League’s Mixed Doubles for a 10am start.
That marks the club’s countdown to the honour of hosting the County Cup final between holders Sir John Bayley and Wrockwardine Wood on Saturday, September 12.
There’s a double dose of junior action at Bowring in Wellington with a 5pm start tomorrow to a novices singles and a two-person team knockout for more experienced players.
That is followed on Sunday by the Wrockwardine Wood Junior Open with a group format using both green from 10am, the main winner to qualify for the new Shropshire Junior Champion of Champions.
Oswestry League
He had to dig deep every game but it all worked out in the end for Andrew Miner in the Oswestry Bowling League’s veterans singles.
The Chirk AAA man won five close games to take the crown at Church BC to add to his club’s rich vein of form in league promotions this year.
Miner beat his fellow third division regular Graham Warren of the host club 21-18 in the final after starting Sunday’s proceedings with 21-15, 21-20 and 21-19 wins.
He came through another 21-17 close encounter against Ian Blundell in the semi-finals – as Warren beat John Edwards by the same score – and now he aims to help Chirk’s C team secure promotion to the second division in 2017.
