Champion of Champions brings the curtain down on summer season
All the latest action from across the county’s bowling greens.
Champions one and all will gather at Bicton tomorrow for the last hurrah of the Shropshire bowls summer season.

A field of 32 winners of titles this year will be in action from 10am in the latest reincarnation of the Shropshire Champion of Champions by promoter extraordinaire, Rob Burroughs.
County No.1 Callum Wraight is the 2/1 favourite to retain the champions crown he won last year at Edgmond, but it’s the Castlefields clubmate who beat him in June’s Shropshire Merit final at the same venue that will take some beating, given his determination that day.
Rich Goddard proved unbeatable as he won his third Merit and that’s why he’s an 8/1 shot tomorrow – the same price as another Fields man in Andy Armstrong, a semi-finalist at Bicton in June, who he faces in round one..
Sir John Bayley duo Scott Harries (5/1) and Stuart Rutter (6/1) will fancy their chances and Peter Farmer can never be ruled out of the equation as a field that includes junior player of the season Ellis Griffiths, goes into battle.
Just down the road at Old Shrewsbury, round three of the Bandit Bowls winter series faces its last real competition as an alternative Sunday attraction with round robin session at 9am and 1.30pm.
Then on Monday Shropshire’s longest running winter league bursts back into life at the District Club in Whitchurch with another 10 team line up.
But Malpas Sports, champions in 2021-22, have withdrawn and replaced by Village People, who open the fixture schedule against Adderley.
