Albion urged to stand firm

West Brom captain Paul Robinson believes defensive solidity will prove the key to winning promotion to the Barclays Premiership.

Albion meet Derby in Monday's Championship play-off final at Wembley where a place in the top-flight elite, as well as an estimated £60million from increased revenues, will be at stake.

And the Baggies head into the new national stadium clash on a high after having won their last four games and having scored 12 goals in the process.

The free-scoring Hawthorns side can boast 100 goals for the 2006-07 season in all competitions so far, but left-back Robinson is convinced keeping a clean sheet will prove crucial at Wembley.

He said: "We will be looking to continue the form from our last four games, which we have won and we have also kept three clean sheets in those matches.

"We are making it hard for teams to break us down, which is a great sign for us, so we just need to keep the momentum going now.

"When you have got a settled team and things are going well for you, it always helps but we have been unlucky with injuries and suspensions throughout the season.

"So the defence has chopped and changed a bit but Sam Sodje has come in on loan from Reading and done a great job.

"And Chris Perry is a fantastic player because he brings the best out of you when you play with him because of his experience and his positioning.

"It is also great to have Neil Clement back around after his suspension because he always gets his head down and works hard."
