Wolves complete permanent striker signing as Jorgen Strand Larsen replacement
Wolves have completed the deadline day signing of Adam Armstrong.
The striker has joined from Southampton in a £7million deal, rising to £9million if add-ons are triggered and has signed a three-and-a-half year contract.
The club enquired about a deal for Armstrong on Sunday before quickly agreeing a deal, before he travelled to complete his medical on Monday.
A transfer for the 28-year-old has now been completed as the transfer window comes to a close.
The Englishman has been with Saints since 2021 and has scored 43 goals in 174 appearances.
He is also their leading goalscorer with 11 Championship goals this season, but now becomes Rob Edwards' first Wolves signing.
Edwards said: “Adam’s really excited to be here. He's a competitor and he's got something about him that we need now. He was really keen to come and join Wolves, and wants to play for Wolves, so it’s a really good day for the club getting him in.
“He’s someone I've admired for a long, long time. He's a really good footballer, a goal threat and a goal scorer. He's someone who can play off the sides if we wanted him to, he’ll see himself as a nine and as a goal scorer, but he's more than that.
“We were only going to bring people in if we felt they could really affect the group in a positive way, not just on the pitch, but around the whole place as well. Hopefully everyone really gets behind him and shows him that love really early on.”
