Steve Bull: It's time to get behind new Wolves boss Rob Edwards

Hopefully his passion and dedication will get us out of this mess, but it is a big job.

We can't expect everything straight away, we are in a difficult position and Edwards needs time.

If the players and fans get behind him, then we have a chance. We did it last year with Vitor Pereira, he saved us last season, and now it's time for Edwards to do the same.

The short-term has to be to fight for Premier League survival and then, long-term, who knows. Pereira hoped to be here for a long time and lasted less than a year, that's football.

Every manager takes every day as it comes and Edwards is at the right age. He will still be learning, but he also has a wealth of experience from the last few years that will help him.

Edwards knows the club inside-out and you can see his passion in the way he talks.

He knows it will be a tough 27 games this season but he will give it his all. 

I'm glad he's come in sooner rather than later so he can get his feet under the table, get the players around him and prepare for his first game.

I've been with Wolves for nearly 40 years and the special thing about our club is the fans. They keep the club together and support us through thick and thin, whatever the weather. They are always there and are die-hard Wolves fans.

I've seen our fans week in, week out and they just want to support the club and see graft on the pitch. Edwards knows that and I think the fans will get behind him.

He has to hit the ground running against Crystal Palace next week and the match being at Molineux definitely helps him.

He'll get a good welcome from the supporters, who will accept him with open arms and back him.

We can't get on his back if we lose to Palace, we have to get behind him and show him the support he needs to get us out of the relegation zone.
