The little parcel of paradise in Mid Wales where we made the best family memories
Our family adventure at Love2Stay Mid Wales – a little slice of heaven! 🌿🏡💦 We’ve already booked to go back!
If you’re looking for a family getaway that combines adventure for the kids, a little luxury for the grown-ups and the chance to properly switch off from everyday life, then Love2Stay Mid Wales might just be the place for you!
My mum and I spent the most wonderful time here with our trio, Ada, Alice and Tommy (aged 8, 5 and 2), and honestly, it was one of those breaks where you arrive, unpack, take a deep breath and wonder why you don’t do it more often.
You know those holidays where the children are happy, everyone has something to do, you actually get to sit down for five minutes with a cuppa, and nobody is asking, “What are we doing now?” every ten seconds?
Well, Love2Stay definitely gave us a little taste of that!

Tucked away in the beautiful Montgomeryshire countryside, surrounded by rolling Welsh hills, open fields and the most incredible views, Love2Stay feels like a little hidden world of its own.
Even better, it’s around an hour and 45 minutes from Wolverhampton, even closer to those living in Shropshire, making it a really manageable escape for families in the Midlands without spending half your holiday travelling.
And the best bit? We loved it so much that we’ve already booked to go back! This time, we’re going to try one of the new Family Getaway Lodges, and we honestly can’t wait.
🏡 Our lodge experience – and the new family lodges!
One of the things I really like about Love2Stay is that there are different accommodation options depending on your family size, budget and how much luxury you fancy.
On our first visit, we stayed in an Infinity Retreat Lodge, and wow, it really did make the break feel extra special. Travelling with three children and their ‘Big Gran’ meant having enough space for everyone was important, and the lodge gave us the perfect place to spend time together without feeling on top of each other.
The Infinity Retreat Lodges sleep up to eight guests, making them ideal for larger families or even a getaway with friends. Inside, there are two bedrooms, including a king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, a second bedroom with twin beds and a large double sofa bed in the living area.
But let's be honest, the biggest talking point was the private heated swimming pool.

Having our own pool was incredible. With three little ones, being able to go for a swim whenever it suited us was such a luxury. There was no need to pack a bag, organise everyone, head off somewhere else or work our day around swimming times. We could simply get ready and jump straight in.
The lodge also had its own sauna and hot tub, which added that lovely spa-retreat feeling. The children had their swimming fun, while the grown-ups could enjoy a little downtime too. Although, as any parent knows, relaxing with children around usually involves one eye open and someone shouting that they need a snack!
Outside, there was a lovely cooking and dining area with a barbecue, perfect for making the most of the countryside setting and enjoying meals outdoors when the weather played along.
It felt luxurious without losing that relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, and having somewhere comfortable to come back to after a busy day made such a difference.
Love2Stay has now introduced two brand-new Family Getaway Lodges, and these are the ones we’ve booked for our next visit!

Designed for smaller families, the new lodges sleep up to four guests, with space for two adults and two younger children. They sound like a lovely option for families who want a comfortable countryside escape with their own private outdoor space.
The layout is really clever, too. There’s a cosy double bedroom on the ground floor, while the twin beds are tucked away on a mezzanine level. I can imagine the children loving having their own little sleeping space upstairs, making it feel like their own mini hideaway.

Each lodge also has a fully equipped kitchen and a plush bathroom, so you have everything you need for a self-catering break. This is always handy with children, especially when someone suddenly decides they’re hungry five minutes after eating, or you need to sort breakfast before anyone is ready to venture outside!
And then there’s the private hot tub. Just imagine getting back from a day of adventures, settling into the warm bubbles and looking up at the beautiful Welsh night sky. Mid Wales is known for its dark skies and fantastic stargazing, so it sounds like such a lovely way to spend an evening.
I think what appeals to me most is that you still get that special countryside getaway feeling, but in a cosy space designed around family life.
We absolutely loved our Infinity Retreat Lodge experience, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what a stay in one of the Family Getaway Lodges is like. It’s lovely knowing there are different options for different kinds of trips, and it gives us another reason to return.
Prices advertised start from £73 for per night in a Family Getaway Lodge and £278 per night in an Infinity Retreat Lodge, although prices will depend on your dates, party number and availability.
💦 Swimming, splashing and endless adventures
If your children are anything like ours, you’ll know that keeping them entertained is the key to a successful family holiday!
Thankfully, Love2Stay absolutely delivered.
The adventure playground was a huge hit. The children could burn off all that endless energy, explore and play while we watched them having the best time. It was one of those places where they were already asking to go back before we’d even left!
And then there was the swimming.
Between the on-site pool and our very own private heated pool at the Infinity lodge, the children were in their element. Ada and Alice were more than happy to splash about, while Tommy loved being in the water with us.
Having our own pool meant we could enjoy a swim whenever we fancied, without having to organise the whole day around it. This was particularly brilliant with a two-year-old, because we all know that toddlers have their own schedules, and they certainly don't always match the plans you've made!
It also meant we could dip in and out of activities throughout the day. We could have a busy morning, head back to the lodge for a rest, grab something to eat and then enjoy another swim later.
There were also opportunities to enjoy activities on the water, including kayaking and canoeing, and there’s also basketball and football areas too, which added even more adventure to the stay.
The brilliant thing was that there was so much to do, but nothing felt rushed. We weren't trying to cram every possible activity into one day or worrying about keeping everyone entertained from morning until night.
Sometimes we could simply enjoy being together, and that was just as lovely.
🎃 A little pumpkin-picking adventure at Porth Farm
One of our favourite little outings was to Porth Farm, which was only about a three-minute walk away.
We nipped down the road to pick our own pumpkins, and it was such a lovely seasonal activity to do with the children. No long drive, no complicated plans and no need to load everyone into the car. Just a short stroll and a little family adventure!

The children loved choosing their pumpkins, and it was one of those simple moments that ended up being a real highlight.
When you're travelling with little ones, having something fun nearby that doesn't require military-level planning is a massive bonus. Anyone who has ever tried to get three children out of the door will know exactly what I mean!
It was actually the only reason we left the site during our stay. We had so much to enjoy at Love2Stay that we really didn't feel the need to go anywhere else.
🌄 The most beautiful Welsh countryside
The setting deserves a mention all of its own because it really is something special.
Love2Stay sits in a beautiful valley surrounded by the rolling hills and mountains of Mid Wales. The scenery changes throughout the day, and we found ourselves constantly stopping to admire the views.
The mornings were particularly magical. Waking up to mist hanging gently across the valley, with the hills appearing through the haze, felt like something straight out of a countryside postcard.
And the sunsets in the evenings? Absolutely beautiful.

There’s something so peaceful about watching the sky change colour over the hills, breathing in the fresh air and knowing you haven't got anywhere you need to be.
At home, life is usually busy. Between the school runs, work, clubs, meals, laundry and all the little jobs that never seem to end, it's easy to get caught up in the routine. Being somewhere that encourages you to slow down and simply enjoy the moment felt like such a treat.
The children could play outside, we could take in the views, and there was no pressure to rush around ticking things off a list.
It was the perfect backdrop for slow mornings, family time and evenings spent together.
It genuinely felt like our own little slice of heaven. 🌿
🍕 Family meals, pizza and board games
Another thing we loved was the on-site café and restaurant area.
When you're away with three children, having somewhere to eat without needing to pile everyone into the car is a massive bonus!
We enjoyed Sunday dinner, which was a lovely treat, and there were pizzas too, which are always a winner with the children.
It's those little conveniences that can make a family holiday feel so much easier. After a busy day of swimming and playing, the last thing you necessarily want to do is spend ages figuring out where to eat, especially when everyone is hungry at slightly different times.
We also loved the opportunity to slow things down with board games. Sometimes the simplest holiday moments end up being the best ones: sitting around together, chatting, playing games and enjoying not having the usual everyday distractions.
It was lovely having the chance to spend proper quality time together, rather than feeling like we needed to be constantly doing something.
👨👩👧👦 A brilliant family break for different ages
Travelling with children aged two, five and eight can sometimes feel like trying to organise three completely different holidays at once!
One wants to run around and climb everything, another wants to swim for hours, and the youngest might be perfectly happy one minute and ready for a nap the next.
That's why Love2Stay worked so brilliantly for us.

Ada and Alice had the playground, swimming and outdoor adventures to keep them entertained, while Tommy could enjoy the simpler pleasures of splashing about and spending time with everyone.
Having my mum with us made it even more special, as we could all enjoy the break together.
The lodge gave us somewhere comfortable to return to, and having our own private pool meant we could enjoy family swimming without needing to go anywhere.
I also think having a mix of activities and relaxing spaces is what makes this place work so well. The children could have their adventures, but there was still room for quieter moments when everyone needed a little breather.
And let's face it, as parents, sometimes a successful holiday is simply one where the children have had a brilliant time, everyone has been fed, and you manage to sit down in the evening without immediately planning the next day's entertainment!
Love2Stay gave us that lovely balance of family fun and time to unwind.
🚗 A brilliant base, without needing to go anywhere
The location is another big plus.
You're around a five-minute drive from Caersws village and approximately 13 minutes from Newtown, so there are nearby places to visit if you fancy exploring.
But honestly? We barely felt the need to leave.
Between the swimming, adventure playground, water activities, food, board games and beautiful surroundings, we had everything we wanted right there.
Our little trip to Porth Farm for pumpkin picking was more than enough exploring for us, and it was lovely not having to spend time travelling from one attraction to another.
Sometimes the best holidays are the ones where you don't feel the need to fill every minute with activities or sightseeing. You can simply enjoy where you are.
And that's exactly what this place gave us.
❤️ Would we recommend Love2Stay Mid Wales?
Absolutely. And the fact that we've already booked to return probably tells you everything you need to know!
The Infinity Retreat Lodge made our first visit feel extra special, and having our own pool was definitely one of the highlights. It gave us the freedom to enjoy the water whenever we wanted, which was brilliant with three little ones.
But what I love is that we're already looking forward to experiencing something different on our next visit.
We've booked a Family Getaway Lodge this time, and I'm excited to see how we get on. The cosy layout, private hot tub and outdoor space sound perfect for another little family escape, and I think the children will love returning to somewhere they already have happy memories of.
