GET THE SHREWSBURY RING ROAD BUILT NOW
It has become increasingly obvious that traffic congestion and pollution has become much worse over the last few years, and is becoming critical. Most local people are aware of this situation, and the silent majority approve of the so-called 'North West Relief Road.'
The local business chamber first mooted the road around 20 years ago. However, our new MP is amazingly against the idea, and even backed the ridiculous Darwin Oak petition!
Many of Shrewsbury's factories have closed their doors, losing around 20,000 production workers. Some of these switched to making munitions in 1940, helping to win the war. No new manufacturing companies are attracted to Shrewsbury, no doubt put off by our traffic problems. This will be much worse with thousands of new homes planned to the east of the town, including Roden.
The new road would offer many other opportunities, including moving emergency services, as they become outdated and difficult to access.
A local delivery depot delivering into the town several times a day would reduce the number of transit vans, that often get lost in our congested streets,.
If it is not already too late, please get it built!

MY PRAISE FOR TOWN'S MAYOR
I am writing to commend Labour Councillor Usman Ahmed, the Mayor of Wellington, for his principled stance in signing a letter with over 100 Labour Muslim councillors urging Sir Keir Starmer to cease all arms sales to Israel. Councillor Ahmed's courage in standing up for what is humanely right deserves high praise.
It is disappointing that he was the only local Labour councillor to express these sentiments, which highlights the importance of acknowledging his strength of character. His actions reflect a commitment to peace and justice, values that should be at the forefront of political discourse. In a time when moral leadership is crucial, Councillor Ahmed sets a commendable example for others to follow.

SO SHOCKED AT DEATH OF LEADER
I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of Alex Salmond, who must surely be remembered as one of Scotland's greatest heroes, along with Robert The Bruce and William Wallace, because I believe he came the closest to ensuring independence for Scotland, and fought for Scotland just as bravely as they had done.
I believe it would not be premature of me to suggest that there should be a statue erected in his memory, as it is in my estimation, thoroughly warranted because of his long and unselfish service, and dedication to his beloved Scotland.
My nan was a Charlton and came from Northumberland, and grandad's family history comes from Berwickshire from before the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
People of the world should not forget their history, or from where they originated, this was more than true of Alex Salmond and he was respected, not only in Scotland but also worldwide. He will be an impossible act to follow.
RIP Alex.
