INVASION OF FANS WAS JUST IDIOTIC

Whose idiotic decision was it to allow up to 1,500 Djurgarden football supporters to roam through Shrewsbury town before the evening match at Croud Meadow? Even good natured chanting can be intimidating.

Whilst it seems most were well behaved, the behaviour of some of their supporters at the ground was evidence that this decision was the wrong one and could have led to all sorts of problems in the town centre had it not been for such a large police presence.

The interview with the council and BID extolling the wonderful atmosphere the supporters created was misleading to say the least. Would the names of the chief inspector, council leader, and BID director be made known to us, as I feel a potential disaster was narrowly avoided. Such decisions need to be discussed fully in future.

One question springs to mind – where do all the policemen go when there is not a football match on?

USE TREES TO SLOW THE WATER

While the committees formed to sort out the flooding are forming sub-committees to work out the details and sub-sub-committees work on how to keep telling the flood affected that they are working on the problem, here's an idea. Get a helicopter and tree trunks of elm and alder, which don’t rot, and locate them well upstream of the flooding in the streams and rivers that feed the flooding and slow the water down over many miles, well away from any habitation. I didn't need a committee to know that.

MY POSITIVE VISIT TO TOWN HOSPITAL

With all the negativity surrounding the NHS I'd like to pour a bit of positivity into the mix by sharing our family’s recent experience at the RSH, and also to thank everyone there that provided the most wonderful and dedicated care. My wife had leukaemia and had to attend the O'Connor haematology unit for monthly blood tests and transfusions as well as chemotherapy sessions over a seven month period.

Unfortunately her condition worsened last month and she was admitted to Ward 23 where she sadly passed away in early December, due to the severity of her illness.

The staff on both wards could not have been kinder and more caring than they were to my wife. They are absolute angels and so professional at their jobs.

I particularly want to thank the staff on Ward 23 as they were so kind and caring to my wife as she came to the end of her life and also to us her family giving us great comfort at this very distressing time.
