'Why do "middle aged white men" keep getting it in the neck?' - Your Letters plus enjoying a pint of mild at a Shropshire village local in the 1970s, in our Picture from the Past series
A reader asks why single out middle aged white men, another's had enough of Tories and Reform trying to outdo each other, and the subject of the clocks changing - let's have a look at your letters for today...

Why pick on us middle aged?
Why do ‘middle aged white men’ keep getting it in the neck? If you ask me, we’ve got enough to make us protest.
I’m sorry but we can’t all be saints like Gary Neville, Gary Lineker before him and the rest of those liberal luvvies who claim to have no prejudices, and are free of all discrimination. I hope these people butter their toast while it’s still warm, it ain’t going to melt in their mouths is it?
Yes, ‘middle age white men’ can have prejudices can be guilty of discrimination as well as sexism and all the other isms. But why single out that particular group when no single one of us is free from such things? Why, because levelling such charges at other groups wouldn’t be tolerated would it?
‘Middle aged white men’, and Neville is obviously referring to ‘middle aged white English men’, are probably just a bit sick of seeing their history constantly re-written, being accused of being ‘far right’ every time they express concern about unprecedented changes.

Let’s go back to horse and cart
I've had enough of the Tories and Reform announcements trying to outdo each other. They are simply tinkering around the edges with their plans to deport 600,000 or 750,000, leave the EHCR, scrap net zero and cut crime by 50 per cent. Total lack of ambition.
What the public crave for is a return to the good old days before the industrial revolution. So immediately deport all those who have arrived since 1800, and their living dependents, that will reduce population to 15 million. We can then demolish all housing built since that date in order to return to smaller towns/villages and reclaim/safeguard our green and pleasant land. Abolish Parliament, in favour of a dictator, and all laws so instantly achieving zero per cent crime. We can revert to using horse and carts so eradicating problems with roads and railways and get everyone working down the pits and on the land.
Nobody will miss all the food we've had forced on us from abroad: Indian, Chinese, French, Mexican, Italian, Thai, Japanese, fish & chips to name just a few.
Time to give the people what they really want!

Why change the clocks back?
While I enjoyed an extra hour in bed, I am thoroughly depressed at the darker evenings.
Why can’t we stick to BST and keep some extra daylight?
Derek Sharp, Shifnal
