'Our culture, history, identity and religion are important' - Your Letters: May 2
PICTURE FROM THE ARCHIVE: A photograph that dates from February 22 1945, which shows Mrs S. B. Legge, wife of Dr Legge of Shifnal, helping to load up furniture and bedding into a van heading for Hackney. It came amid calls for people to make donations to help those bombed out in the Blitz.

OUR FESTIVALS ARE IMPORTANT
Having young grandchildren, I've noticed the lack of celebrating Christian festivals. Some schools are looking at changing Easter for a more diverse system - why?
Like Christmas we had to change our signs/outlook to Season’s Greetings - not Christmas Greetings – what's next?
Christmas, Easter, Whitsuntide, and others are all Christian festivals, as are our holidays which we celebrate and have done for hundreds of years! Whitsuntide is now spring bank holiday – is May Day to vanish?
Are we to lose the reasons for our festivals or do the hypocrites just want to keep the profit making side?
This is a Christian country; King Charles is head of the Church of England and our holidays are based on Christian events.
Our culture, history, identity and religion are important.

WHY CHANGE HYMN WORDS?
Why change or edit hymns and carols that we have come to love? It's a wonderful way in which to show our heartfelt love for our Father God to give him praise and respect. My beliefs are my own. I really don't care if people are offended by my faith and church.
Leaders are very wrong telling people to edit hymns and carols. What next? This thing of normalising with stupid words like ‘wokeism’ sums it all up.
There are a lot of things that offend me that I have tolerated over the years, but this is outrageous. What next?

LETBY COURT CASE TROUBLING
I fully agree with W F Kerswell about the Lucy Letby case, the whole thing was based on circumstantial evidence and carefully selected data. The defence team was markedly absent in the trial, not fully questioning frail evidence and did not call any expert witnesses. David Davis MP was the first to break cover and question the trial, and he has been involved a few such cases of mistrials.
I hope the British legal establishment does not drag its feet on this and allow Letby to stay in jail while years of argument go back and forth, she deserves better than that. It would be no comfort for the parents if the wrong person was jailed to cover up for much wider failings in Chester Hospital.

TANK ADVICE IS OUT OF DATE
Experts telling people to insulate hot water tanks are around 40 years out of date! For the last 40 years all copper hot water tanks have been pre-insulated with a foam covering, so very few people will have ancient cylinders in their homes to cover.
How can these advisers be so out of date?!
W F Kerswell, Picklescott
