'No one at the end of life should worry about getting the compassion and dignity they deserve' - Your Letters and a sub aqua club’s deep-end protest for the Quarry Pool in a picture from our archive

A charity's message to the government to improve care for dying people, and a thank you to a local ladies' group, a couple of the topics discussed in your letters today.

Palliative care faces huge crisis

Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity, has sent an urgent open letter to Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, warning that without immediate action, palliative care in England faces catastrophe.

With more than 5.75 million deaths projected in the next decade and more than 5 million people set to need palliative care, the system risks being overwhelmed unless the UK Government delivers a comprehensive plan to improve care for dying people.

No one at the end of life should worry about getting the compassion and dignity they deserve. The government must deliver a plan so everyone, no matter where they live, has access to high-quality palliative care. For many, this means relief, precious time together, and avoiding needless trips to A&E. We cannot let people go unsupported at their most vulnerable. The government must act now and work with the end of life care sector to fix end of life care for good.

Well done to all WI members

Congratulations to the members of Trysull WI for respecting and kindly remembering those who gave us our independence which all of us should value.

The huge sacrifice undertaken by previous generations should never be forgotten.

I thank the members of our local WI for their dedication year in year out ensuring that Remembrance Day is always given the respect the day deserves.

Future’s bright for our Wolves

I may be one of the few, but I see a bright future for the team I have supported for over 80 years, yes it’s the Wolves. For a number of years in the past they were among the best teams in the league. They are going through a tough time at the moment but give them time. The players are not at their best but it’s up to our fans to get behind them, with your support they can only get better then we will see lots of smiling people in the terraces waving our team on to the winning ways of the past.

Flags already looking tatty

Just a hint of winter and already many flags I see look dishevelled. Bring them down now and put them up on all our official buildings instead.
