Telford's Southwater Christmas Market is back - and traders are being invited to apply for places

Telford’s Southwater Christmas Market is returning and traders are being invited to apply for places.

Taking place from December 3 to 22, the market, which was cancelled last year, will be part of a wider programme of festive activities taking place across Telford throughout the Christmas season.

Located in Southwater, it is intended to complement attractions including Telford Festive Gardens, Jack and the Beanstalk at Telford Theatre, Skate with Santa at Telford Ice Rink and late-night shopping at Telford Centre.

The organisers say they are seeking a variety of traders to operate from traditional wooden chalets - measuring three metres by two-and-a-half metres - throughout the event.

The market will provide traders with a fully serviced chalet, electricity supply and access to an EPOS system.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said: "We're excited to be launching the Telford Festive Market as part of a fantastic programme of Christmas activities taking place across the town.

"Whether people are visiting Telford Festive Gardens, enjoying a pantomime performance, taking to the ice with Skate with Santa or making the most of late-night shopping, the market will provide another reason to spend time in the town centre and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

"We're looking forward to welcoming a range of traders who can help create a memorable Christmas experience for residents and visitors alike."

Trading will take place between noon and 9pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.

Applications are open and businesses can register their interest by e-mailing [email protected].
