The Exotic Zoo and Wildlife Park has welcomed a host of animals from Australia in recent weeks.
Among them are a pair of brushtail possums.
Exotic Zoo Telford founder and director Scott Adams said they are now building a new attraction based on their arrivals from down under.
He said: “Brushtail possums are a really unusual animal from Australia. It is actually a marsupial - the same as a wallaby, which you can also see at the zoo.
“Recently we have had a few new arrivals from Australia, not just the possums. We have wallabies with joeys in their pouches at the moment, but we have also welcomed a pair of kookaburras and three female bettongs which are all from Australia.
“So at the moment we are in the process of making a new zone at the zoo, which will be our outback for all our Australian species at the Exotic Zoo. We are really excited about that.”
He added that while one of the possums has been named Blossom - due to her fruit-based diet - they are seeking a name for her male mate.
“We are looking for some good ideas so we are asking visitors to the zoo to come up with some names,” he said.
Exotic Zoo in Telford Town Park is open daily from 11am to 4pm.
