Watch as thousands gather for drum and bass bike ride through Birmingham with viral sensation DJ Dom

Drone footage has captured the moment thousands gathered for a drum and bass bike ride through Birmingham with a social media star DJ.

Crowds gathered at the starting line in Victoria Square with DJ Dom Whiting, aka dnbonthebike, for a ride through the city centre and Digbeth on Sunday afternoon (September 13) - finishing at the Hippodrome.

As on all his city rides, which he holds in the UK and internationally, Whiting cycled at the front on a cargo bike with decks and a custom-built sound system mounted on it, delighting the crowd with his tracks.

Following the event, the viral DJ thanked fans for the turnout and shared his amazement at how many young people were in attendance, writing: “The amount of YOUNGSTERS at the front today was unreal. Can’t wait to watch the YouTube video back. You guys are killing it right now!”

Among the young people was school student Tristan Gregory from King's Heath, who said he cycles with friends every day. He had already been to three of Whiting’s rides and says they are "just fun - everyone getting together and enjoying the sport is the main thing".

Sammy, originally from Birmingham and now living in Shropshire, took part with her young son Huey Nelson, who she pulled along in a bike trailer, and with her partner. She's attended Whiting's rides previously in Bristol and in Barcelona.

She says the ride is "a nice way to bring everyone together and nice to get pedal power out on the streets... it's family-friendly, about being outside and for the love of music" and that she would like to see more mass rides like Whiting's, and from local authorities "investment in family-friendly cycle tracks, and cycling in school to keep people moving".
