Man given three months to remove residential caravan near Shropshire vineyard launches appeal

The occupants were given three months to return the site to its prior condition

An appeal has been lodged with the government Planning Inspectorate after a man was given three months to dismantle an “unlawful” caravan site.

Telford & Wrekin Council issued an enforcement notice on land close to a vineyard near Longdon on Tern in March this year.

The notice claimed that the land was being used for residential purposes, and that a caravan and hardstanding had been sited on the land without planning permission.

Documents stated that the “unauthorised development” detracted from the rural character of the land and “unacceptably prejudices the amenities of adjacent occupiers”.

The occupants of the site were given three months to cease using the land for residential purposes, remove the caravan and restore the land to its prior condition.

Now the occupants have challenged the enforcement notices and lodged an appeal with the government Planning Inspectorate.

Final comments on the application are due in July, after which an inspector will determine whether the enforcement notices should stand or be quashed.
