The Great British Bake Off Musical set for Telford theatre stage

The Little Theatre Donnington is bringing the nation's favourite baking tent to the stage with its production of The Great British Bake Off Musical.

The show opens on Thursday (June 18) and runs until Saturday (June 20).

Based on the much-loved TV show, the musical follows a group of amateur bakers as they whisk, knead and prove their way through the competition, juggling soggy bottoms, showstoppers and the small matter of their own lives along the way.

It is a warm, funny celebration of ordinary people doing something extraordinary, which makes it a perfect fit for a community theatre.

The Little Theatre Donnington is a volunteer-run registered charity that has been serving the community for 72 years.

Every aspect of the production is delivered by volunteers who give their time for the love of live theatre, from the cast to the set, costumes and front of house.

Director Vikki Lee has assembled a cast of 21 local performers, with a team of 36 cast and crew bringing the show to life.

She said: "You can't say we're not ambitious, bringing the Bake Off tent to our Little Theatre, but we have relished the challenge, and the cast and crew have had a lot of fun and laughs along the way.

“This is the first show I have directed since 2019 and it's certainly the most complex staging and music I have worked with.

“Whether you know the TV show or not, we hope you love the characters, back stories and music as much as we do!"

Performances begin at 7.30pm each evening, with doors opening at 7pm, at The Little Theatre, Donnington.

All proceeds support the ongoing work of the theatre, including the current fundraising campaign to repair the theatre's roof.
