An MP is backing a campaign for better broadband.

Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard has given his support for the Which campaign for improved broadband.

The MP attended an event in London yesterday to reiterate the call for better, faster speeds in Shropshire.

He said: "Shropshire is a large rural county. Both homes and businesses need reliable and faster broadband. Operators need to match their words with a genuine roll out programme."

Mr Pritchard has also been reappointed to the senior role on the Panel of Chairs.

The Panel consists of a select number of backbench members appointed by the speaker and headed by the chairman of ways and means.

Members of the panel chair parliamentary proceedings in Westminster Hall, general committees and committees of the whole house.

Mr Pritchard said: "It is a great honour to have been reappointed to the Chairman's Panel.

"There are some key Committee Bills and debates being introduced in this Parliament – and I look forward to chairing them."
