Play park renovations underway in historic Ironbridge Gorge
Work has begun to replace the play area at a park in the historic Ironbridge Gorge.

The refurbishment of the play area at Dale End Park in Coalbrookdale has gotten going this week.
The project, which is being funded through developer contributions from the power station development, is expected to take a maximum of five weeks.
The site of the former power station is set to be redeveloped as what will effectively be a new community called Benthall Grange – with around 1,000 homes eventually planned for the area.

According to the plans for Dale End play park, new additions will include two climbing frames that pay homage to the Industrial Revolution - one, in the style of the Iron Bridge and the other a train.
There will also be a sensory area, a spinning cup, spring rockers and, of course, swing sets. Outdoor gym equipment is also set to be installed.

Dale End Park has formally been a recreation ground from 1870, and was designated a formal park in 1970.
Councillor Carolyn Healy said: "Work has now started to replace the play area at Dale End Park. The project will take a maximum of 5 weeks but hopefully less if the weather is kind.

"Part of the car park is in use for materials but to minimise traffic congestion there won’t be deliveries during school drop off and pick up.
"The play area project is funded through section 106 payments (developer contributions) from the power station development."
