Telford to get dedicated Monopoly board - which landmarks will make the cut?
Telford has been chosen as the next town to get its own Monopoly board after beating ten other towns and cities across the UK.
Telford has been chosen from a shortlist of ten places across the UK – including Gloucester, Sheffield and Norwich – to land its own Monopoly board.
The announcement comes as what is arguably the world’s most popular board game turns 90 years old this year.
Today (Thursday, February 6) Mr Monopoly will visit the town to officially break the news on the town's world-famous Iron Bridge.
There, it will be revealed how Telford has beaten off competition from across the UK based on three factors - 'sense of family', 'civic pride' and 'loved landmarks'.
The public will also be invited to send in suggestions for landmarks and organisations to be featured in the game over a two-week nomination period, with the game hitting the shops in time for Christmas 2025.
Ben Ladd Gibbon, custom games executive at Winning Moves UK, teased what might feature where on the iconic board.
The Iron Bridge is so far the favourite to land the priciest Mayfair space, while Telford Theatre is likely to be placed in a yellow spot - where the original showcases London's West End.
Telford Town Park could feature on a green square, along with other green landmarks from the town.
Mr Ladd Gibbon also suggested The Shropshire Star featuring on the red Fleet Street square was looking "very possible".

“We are certain we are going to be wonderfully spoilt with choices when putting this Monopoly game together,” Mr Ladd Gibbon added.
It's also been suggested, that due to the lack of main-line railway stations in Telford, the quartet of stations from the classic game will take on a broader 'travel' theme.
The quartet may include Telford's main rail and bus stations, the River Severn or cyclepaths.
The public is being invited to suggest Telford landmarks to be featured on the famous spaces, as well as the wording for the Chance and Community Chest cards.
Suggestions can be made by email to [email protected].
