Telford fire station responds to nine incidents in 24 hours - including car blaze and wild fire
The incidents included seven fires in the open
A Telford fire station has shared images of a series of incidents after being called out nine times in 24 hours.

The firefighters of Tweedale Fire Station attended a host of fires, including a car blaze in Broseley shortly before 1am on Friday (July 17).

The station also responded to seven incidences of fire in the open.

It follows an exceptionally hot and dry period for the county which has left conditions vulnerable to fires.

In a post on social media a spokesperson for the station asked people to take precautions to prevent accidental fires, while stating that the number of overnight incidents had added to a busy month for its crews.

It said: “This has contributed to an exceptionally busy month, with our crews responding to 36 incidents across the county within 16 days.

“With the current warm, dry weather, vegetation is extremely dry and fires can spread incredibly quickly.
“Many of the incidents we attend are preventable, and we are asking everyone to help keep our communities safe by never discarding cigarettes on the ground or from vehicle windows, never leaving campfires, disposable barbecues or fire pits unattended, and ensuring they are fully extinguished before leaving.”
The post also asked drivers to avoid parking vehicles on long, dry grass, as hot exhausts and catalytic converters can ignite vegetation, and to dispose of litter responsibly, especially glass bottles, which can contribute to fires.
The spokesperson added: “If you witness suspicious behaviour or deliberate fire-setting, report it to the police. Deliberately starting fires puts lives, wildlife, homes and firefighters at risk.
“Every avoidable fire ties up emergency resources that may be needed elsewhere.”
