Wannabe technicians invited to learn about equipment at Builth Wells venue

Wannabe technicians to help at events at Builth Wells venue will be invited along to see the equipment.

There was a great response to a search for technicians for Strand Hall events to assist on an ad-hoc basis.

Builth Wells Town Council only had one technician left after previously having about four technicians.

This role is required when the hall is hired out and technical support is needed.

The responsibilities include assisting with the music and lighting aspects of events.

Training will be provided, the work will primarily be on weekends and the technician would be paid £100 for the first four hours of work (minimum payment) and £10 per hour for each subsequent hour.

Payment would be made directly to the technician by the hirer.

Eight responses were received, the town council revealed recently.

At a recent town council meeting, town clerk Mrs Louise Hammond said all of those people interested in being technicians will be invited to the Strand Hall when the current technician will show them how the equipment works.

If they are still keen to do the work they will be asked to complete a council form ensuring protection for their equipment.

Mrs Hammond said the meeting would be informal and probably if they sign up for the work they would shadow the current technician initially and they would be effectively self-employed but using the town council’s equipment.
