Storm‑hit culvert repairs to begin in south Shropshire after seven‑month road closure

The culvert was damaged in a storm last year along with a nearby bridge

Work to repair a culvert damaged in a storm seven months ago is set to begin soon.

Repair works of Grove Farm Culvert in Cardington, near Church Stretton, are expected to begin on July 20.

The road - which runs over the culvert - has been closed since it was damaged in a December storm, which also damaged the nearby Cardington North Bridge.

The repair works will see the existing road closure maintained until work is completed, which Shropshire Council say is expected to take up to three weeks.

The work will involve rebuilding the downstream end of the existing culvert and resurfacing of the road.

While the road remains closed, traffic will continue to be diverted via local roads using the current signed diversion route.

All planned work is subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances and any changes will be communicated via the yellow advance warning signs on site and online at One.Network.
