Thieves stole power tools, lead rolls and copper fitments worth more than £10,000 when they broke into a builders' yard in Ludlow.
They struck at Travis Perkins, off Parys Road.
Sergeant John Evans, of South Shropshire Police, said: "The offenders gained access to the premises by using cutting gear. They forced a door to enter a building on the site and then targeted a safe.
"The offenders then loaded lead rolls and copper fitments onto a green DAF truck, with a registration number FJ04AFX. They also loaded Makita power tools on to the vehicle before making their escape."
He added the thieves drove away with their haul in the break-in between 4pm on December 30 and 3.30am on New Year's Eve.
He said the vehicle used, which was found in Oldbury in the West Midlands this morning, was very distinctive, and added: "We would appeal to anyone who saw suspicious activity around the compound to contact us.
"We would also appeal for information from anybody who saw the vehicle or who has information about copper fitments, lead rolls or Makita power tools."
Rod Astbury, branch manager for Travis Perkins, at Ludlow, urged people to contact police with information.
Anyone with information can call police on 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
