Lotto Love at South Powys Mind as National Lottery winners give well-being centre a fresh new look

Lotto winners headed to South Powys Mind in Brecon to give the well-being centre a new look with Wales’ double National Lottery millionaire, Faye Stevenson-Davies.

When Faye celebrated a second £1M National Lottery win with her husband Richard in December 2025, after a new home, top of her winner wish list was doing something that would benefit South Powys Mind.

She said, “Winning £1M on Lotto on top of our previous £1M win has been incredible, and bringing some of our fellow lucky winners together at a place that means so much to me is the icing on the cake of a phenomenal six months.

“When we won for the second time, I was really keen to share some of that luck with South Powys Mind, to acknowledge the amazing work they do right across the region. With the launch of new Lotto it seemed appropriate to give the well-being centre a new look too.”

The Lotto gang, including sisters Tina Burgess and Karen Maddock (£18M), were busy throughout a very hot day repainting the centre’s main areas, building furniture and putting their best interior design skills to the test.

Visibly touched by everyone’s commitment, Faye said; “Our first win enabled me to return to education and qualify as a pluralistic practitioner and EMDR therapist, and soon after I joined South Powys Mind. I have been a therapist here for over a year and every week see first-hand how they provide support to the town as well as the wider rural community.

“Through my work I am also very aware of the importance that National Lottery funding can make, it has funded numerous projects for the charity and that’s only possible thanks to National Lottery players.”

South Powys Mind (formerly Brecon & District Mind) has received £399,881 of National Lottery funding, with the most recent in January for Sense of Belonging: Cynefin Project (£98,853).

Marie Davies, CEO at South Powys Mind, said, “We support people in the community to manage their own mental health and wellbeing by offering a wide range of individual services, groups, courses, activities and development opportunities, to ensure that whatever the issue someone may be facing, we are able to help.

“These Lotto winners offering to help us has been an absolute treat. Their efforts and their generosity towards our charity has been incredible. The support of The National Lottery makes a huge difference to the work we are able to do but, on a grassroots level, winners rolling up their sleeves to give our Wellbeing Centre a new look will make such a difference to our service users, staff and volunteers and we’re over the moon.”
