Loud bangs and smoke reported after 'dust explosion' at giant factory in Welsh border town
Residents reportedly heard a large bang.
Emergency services were called to a large factory in Chirk on Sunday afternoon after reports of smoke in the area.
Residents reportedly heard a large bang before smoke was seen coming from the Kronospan factory. The company manufactures and distributes wood-based panels.

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to assist the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service at around 4.40pm following reports of a building fire.
A spokesperson for Oswestry Fire Station said there had been reports of a “dust explosion” and small seats of fire in the factory.

Six fire appliances were reportedly at the scene at around 7pm on Sunday.
A photograph, shared by Chirk resident Dave Clarke, showed what appeared to be smoke in the sky above the factory.
North Wales Police and North Wales Fire Service have been approached for more information.
