Shropshire Council confirms latest roadworks for North Shropshire route

The road is the latest stretch planned for ‘surface dressing’ by the council.

Shropshire Council has confirmed roadworks for another county route, starting later this month.

Shropshire Council’s ‘surface dressing’ programme is set to take in a stretch of the B5068 between St Martins and Dudleston Heath between April 24 and May 15.

The work will carried out from the Mount Bradford Lane junction to Cross Lanes in three phases, when the road will be closed from 9.30am to 4pm.

The first will be on April 24, when it is closed for stud removal.

That will be followed by a closure from May 8 to 10 for surface dressing, before the final closure from May 13 to 15 to paint white lines on the road.

The road will have an initial sweep within 24 hours of the new surface being laid.

The sweeper then returns after seven days to remove any residual loose chippings.

The council said that during the closures access to the work areas will be maintained when safe to do so, for residents living within the closure, businesses located within the closure, emergency vehicles, essential highway personnel, and utility or public service vehicles.

For all other traffic a signed diversion will be place.

Depending on the vehicle type there may be an alternative diversion route.

The council has asked people not to park vehicles on the road while the work is in progress.

Surface dressing is part of efforts to prevent potholes, maintain skid-resistance and waterproof road surfaces.
