Fry Awards named its list of the top 50 best fish and chips takeaways across the UK.
A Shropshire-border chippy was featured on the list of the UK’s best fish and chip takeaways in the country.
The Fry Awards rolled out their prestigious accolades for staple national dish ahead of National Fish and Chip Day (June 5).
The list includes restaurants and takeaways from across the country - including one takeaway based on the Shropshire border.
Fiddlers Elbow, Leintwardine, Herefordshire was the nearest takeaway on the list. It has a 4.5 star rating on Google Reviews.
One review said: “Fantastic fish and chip shop! The best I’ve ever had! Absolutely amazing! Fresh, perfectly cooked fish with light, crispy batter and proper chunky chips. Friendly, amazing service and great value for money. A classic British chippy done right—easily a five-star experience and highly recommended.”
Another added: “This has got to be THE BEST fish and chips I have ever had, freshly cooked...the fish was beautiful and fresh,their batter was not heavy or greasy, it was very light and crispy and even their chips were really good! Definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys this food.”
“We called in for chips after a walk. They were freshly cooked and delicious. Will definitely be back to try more from the menu,” a third wrote.
