Shrewsbury dessert shop gets go-ahead to start selling takeaway hot food including pizza
A dessert shop in Shrewsbury has been given the thumbs up for its plans to start selling hot food to take away.
The owners of Crumbs Desserts on Grafton Mews in Shrewsbury have been given permission to change the unit into a hot food takeaway.
Proposals were submitted to Shropshire Council in October by business owners Mr and Mrs Basra.
The plans, submitted on behalf of the couple by surveyor Ian Ellis, said the owners wished to develop the business and offer hot food including pizza.
As part of the scheme, the shop would see the installation of a new pizza and fryer area, but no external changes were proposed to the building.
Documents stated: "The applicants have found that through their customers there is a demand for this type of use in the area and wish to provide it.
"The business will provide a local service and also provide much needed extra employment."
The proposals suggest one new full-time job will be created, along with two part-time positions.
Currently the store has permission to open between 9am and 11pm and the new scheme suggests no change on those restrictions would be needed.
Approving the plans, a spokesperson for Shropshire Council said: "The proposed development for change of use to provide hot food within an existing cold food takeaway will improve an existing neighbourhood facility, and will not result in any adverse impact on residential amenity."
