Motorist, 28, who had cocaine in his system when driving in Shrewsbury town centre gets road ban and hefty legal bill

A motorist who was caught with cocaine in their system in Shrewsbury town centre has been handed a road ban.

Charlie Sharrock, aged 28, drove a VW Polo in St Julian’s Friars on December 16 last year.

A drugs test found Sharrock had 32 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood in their system. The legal limit, accounting for the possibility of accidental exposure, is 10mcg.

Sharrock, of Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving with a proportion of a controlled drug above the specified limit.

Magistrates banned Sharrock from driving for 12 months and issued a £461 fine.

Sharrock was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £184 victim surcharge, so a total legal bill of £730.
