Challenge to join in dry bog snorkelling event in Shrewsbury
The world's first dry bog snorkelling championships will take place in Shrewsbury tomorrow.
Visitors to Shropshire Wildlife Trust in Abbey Foregate will be invited to don a mask, snorkel, knee pads and gloves as the centre is transformed to showcase the unique habitats of Shropshire and offers the chance to dry snorkel the bogs of the meres and mosses landscape area.
Matt Jones, of the Meres and Mosses Landscape Partnership, said: "The meres and mosses is an amazing landscape, one of the rarest in the world, yet few people know it's even there. We invented dry bog snorkelling for the open day because we thought it would be a highly entertaining way of raising awareness.
"As far as we know, this is the only dry bog snorkelling event in the world."
The event runs from 10am to 3pm.
