As Halloween approaches here are 5 spooky Shropshire encounters – as told by locals
While the sceptics are everywhere, if you believe you've seen a ghost then it is a sight that stays with you forever.

Away from the haunted tours and hammed up TV hunts many people have had what they think was an unexplainable brush with the paranormal.
From ghostly figures dressed in grey to black shadowy apparitions, Shropshire Star readers have been sharing the times that they felt the presence of the poltergeist.
Writing on Facebook Rhiannon Hughes, told of her husband's chilling Shropshire encounter with a 'hollow' figure – and how it stays with him to this day.
She said: "My husband saw a ghost in Cupre Hollow between Leaton and Fitz Bank on the way to Montford Bridge.
"A man figure was ahead and as he got closer to overtake he realised the figure was hollow and drove through it, car went cold and kept cutting out.
"Even now he won't go that way on his own late night."
Meanwhile Julie Marshall has her own memories of an unexplainable appearance from her childhood in Jackfield.
She said: "I remember the old red church near Jackfield when it was still standing. I saw lady dressed in grey at the clock face opening in the bell tower.
"I was about four-years-old at the time. There was no access to the bell tower at that point in time. The church was demolished not long afterwards."
Kaz Walls meanwhile was another experiencing an automobile apparition.

She said: "We was parked on the bridge over Loamhole Dingle on Buildwas Bypass and an old lady was walking towards us on the bridge, but looked away for a second and she was gone, bear in mind we're on a bridge, nowhere to go."
Fae Simpson came across not one, but two ghosts in one evening, while working at a popular country venue.
She said: "At Weston park when I worked there, two in one late night. One of a black shadow crossing a corridor with no other light sources and one a very irate looking old man who disappeared as soon as he appeared to me.
"Others experienced things the same night, funnily enough when I had seen a ghost I went to find someone, freaking out, and they legitimately said “you look like you’ve seen a ghost” before I said anything."
Gary Grainger said his encounter had left him "sick".
He said: "Coming back from Bridgnorth on the High Rock Road late one night, now the long stretch of road for about five miles has no street lights and it's pitch black, when in my headlights high beam I seen a woman walking along the roadside dressed like she'd been clubbing. As I passed her pulled over, looking in my mirror she was gone. I got out to look and she wasn't there so I quickly got back in and drove off freaked out and feeling sick – was it a ghost."
