More than 300 people have signed an online petition calling for a roundabout or traffic lights to be installed at a 'dangerous' junction in Shrewsbury.

The e-petition is calling for Shropshire Council to introduce the traffic measures at the junction between Upper Road and Roman Road by the entrance to Meole Village.

They claim the present junction is 'an accident waiting to happen' as frustrated drivers take risks.

The e-petition says: "The current junction between Upper Road and Roman Road at the entrance to Meole Village is difficult, busy and dangerous.

"It is necessary to install a mini roundabout/traffic lights to avoid a serious accident taking place. This issue needs addressing urgently, as without this, an accident is certain to happen."

The petition has attracted 333 signatures so far.

The e-petition, which can be found on the council's website, needs 1,000 signatures by March 31 to be eligible for a council debate.
