Shifnal goes bananas! 33 pictures of fun in the sun at town carnival - can you spot anyone you know?
There were princesses, pirates and patriotism as a Shropshire town kick-started its summer with its annual carnival.
More than 2,000 basked in the roasting heat for Shifnal Carnival, which featured an impressive parade of folks in a variety of fancy dress costumes.
The Far Far Away team took home the prize for best float with their Shrek 2 theme, complete with Shrek, Donkey and co on board.

The walker’s award went to the Gamble family, who were inspired by the I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here dingo dollar challenges.
And Kevin Turley took home the “comical” award for his “old hag” costume.
Youngsters on the royal float, including Queen Emi, King Josh, Princess Olivia and Prince Kai, as well as their “attendants” Scarlett, Olivia, Ayeesha, Nell and Rosie, smiled and waved to the cheering crowd.

Ruth Evans, vice-chair of the event, has been involved in the carnival for the last 35 years. It has been running since 1968.
She said: “It was a fantastic day. We had nine floats. The quality of the floats was really good. People put in a lot of effort.
“The Sherwood family won the best float, and fortunately the green paint didn’t run too much in the heat!
“Everyone came out to support us, which was great.
“I’m grateful to all of the volunteers, the local businesses and Shifnal Town Council for all their help.

“It brings the community together and it was a really good day.”
Carnival-goers and locals enjoyed a mix of thrilling rides and entertaining games as well as the parade.
Pubs and restaurants were quids in, with visitors snapping up tasty bites and refreshments to fuel their festivities.
The parade started on Admirals Close before heading to Newport Road, then High Street and Broadway, stopping off at Shrewsbury road before turning into Victoria Road and ending at Aston Street car park.
Musicians, bands and entertainers joined in, including the Cosford ATC Band, St Gregory’s Marching Band, Red Barrows, Deadpool & Wolverine and neon stilt walkers.
The Caribbean Steel Band played in the town centre during the parade too, adding to the carnival atmosphere in the sunshine.
