A town has been taken over by scarecrows ahead of a dedicated festival this weekend.
The event takes place from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, September 12, at St Andrew’s Churchyard in Shifnal.
The trail has already seen scarecrows springing up across the town, in gardens, parks, and business windows.
Trail maps showing the locations are available at Shifnal Library.
People can use the map to take a stroll around the town and see the creations for themselves.
They are then invited to choose a favourite and have their say in the People’s Choice Award.
The Shifnal Town Council-organised festival will feature a host of activities throughout the day.
Those vying to be Shifnal’s star baker can enter the baking competition for £2 an entry. Submissions need to be taken to St Andrew’s Churchyard at 10am on the morning of the festival.
The festival includes food stalls offering treats, including fresh pizza, burgers and chips, Indian food, Caribbean food, gyros, hot doughnuts, chocolate fondue, homemade cakes and bakes and more.
There will be stalls with handmade gifts, artwork, toys, crafts, candles, jewellery, and crochet, along with a number of children’s activities.
They include free arts and crafts and other family activities, while people can also enjoy Hrafn Væringi’s Viking Re-enactment Group and their Viking encampment nestled amongst the trees.
At 1pm they will be putting on a battle re-enactment demonstration, where children will have the opportunity to get involved and have a go themselves.
Live music will also feature, including St Andrew’s Primary School Choir and Susie C Sings.
Shifnal’s very own Brightstar Boxing will also be putting on a live demonstration and coaches will be on hand to answer questions about getting involved with the club.
At 2.55pm the festival competition winners will be announced by the Mayor, Councillor Paul Williamson.
