Roadworks planned as National Grid upgrades power network in Bridgnorth

Five weeks of roadworks are planned as National Grid strengthens Bridgnorth’s electricity network

A part of Bridgnorth will see road closures and traffic controls this summer as National Grid carries out work to strengthen the town’s electricity network.

The company is preparing to overlay a stretch of high‑voltage cable to help meet growing demand for power in the area.

The scheme will involve tracking and laying a new duct from the Dunval Road substation through to a joint bay in Sydney Cottage Drive.

Work is scheduled to begin on June 1 and is expected to take five weeks.

National Grid says the first phase will require a full road closure on Dunval Road, continuing past the shops on Queensway Drive. Once that section is complete, the remainder of the route will be managed under temporary traffic lights.
